I am mystified as are the hundreds of people who crowded the banks of the Tiber River on Saturday night waiting for the Girandola. Despite world-wide publicity -- and erroneous news reports -- the promised fireworks show failed to materialize with no explanation available.
"BTW, several of our eCool readers have let us know that the Girandola DID happen. They did it early--sometime between 9:45 and 10:00pm. Who would imagine that the Romans would do something early? I guess the press and all others missed it as a result. We'll be updating the blog to reflect that fact shortly."
However, intrepid travelers Susan and Laura sent a photo anyway! And it is a beautiful view of Castel Sant'Angelo at night. Well done, ladies! A copy of A Journey into Michelangelo's Rome will be on its way to you shortly.

Anyone with information about the missing fireworks? Post here and give us the full scoop!
Ciao!
UPDATE: This just in from Laura of eternallycool.net...
So sad to have missed it!
