Cruising Italy: A Guide

A cruise ship leaving port in Venice

Seeing Italy’s Best via Cruise Ship

Many major cruise ships make ports of call in Italy. It is one of the most beautiful and popular destinations on the Mediterranean. But knowing what to do once the ship docks can be daunting, particularly for those who have never visited Italy before. What should you do with just one day in Rome? What about Naples? And should you visit Florence or Pisa? Never fear! I have recommendations for all as well as restaurant choices and transit suggestions, too.

So whether you are choosing from the excursions offered by your cruise line or making your own arrangements, I have tips and suggestions for the four most popular ports of call in Italy: Venice, Naples, Rome (Civitavecchia), and Livorno (Florence/Pisa).

Buon viaggio!
