The proverbial "they" say that it takes a village to raise a child. What does it take to build a village? About $50,000 and a bunch of fantastic prizes!
Once again I am part of a group of travel bloggers who are spending our holiday season raising money to build a village. Together we are Passports with Purpose -- nearly 100 travel bloggers who want to change the world one village at a time.
This year we are building a village in India for the Untouchables -- a the lowest class of people in India's caste system. Think that's ambitious? We do, too. But we are confident that we can do it! Last year we raised nearly $30,000 and built a school in rural Cambodia. The Passports School opened in October, and now, thanks to your generous support, hundreds of children are going to school.

So, this year we want to build a village! It will take $50,000 to raise, but we know that with the help of people like you, it will happen. Like raising a child, building a village takes a little work from everyone.
What is Passports with Purpose (PwP)?
In 2008 four travel bloggers got together and said, “Let’s do some good with our blogs.” They recruited a bunch of other bloggers, including me, and together we raised more than $7000 for Heifer International. This year’s group of travel bloggers is even bigger, and so is our goal.
How does Passports with Purpose raise money?
We are holding an online raffle. With each $10 donation you make to PwP, you get a chance to win the prize of your choice. And the prizes are incredible: trips, cameras, travel gear, hotel stays, kids’ gear...
