Journaling in Light: Six Months of My Project 365

On January 1, 2010, I began my Project 365 -- a photo journal with one photo posted each day.  I set several goals for myself including learning to shoot completely in "manual mode" on my digital SLR. I have found myself documenting the smallest parts of my life -- the blossoms in my garden, for example -- and the largest -- the sale of our house and our move to San Francisco.  And I find myself looking forward to finding something to photograph each and every day.

Today's photo will cross the threshold -- half-way done.  To mark the occasion, I thought I would post a few of my favorite photos from the last six months...

One of my dearest friends in the whole world with whom I always start a new year, Terra.
January 2: Terra

January 28: Stop Shark Finning
I found this addition to the stop sign in our neighborhood to be both fascinating and sad.  And I played a bit with the color in Photoshop.

My husband and I have always enjoyed taking drives out into the country.  Now I always remember my camera.
February 13: Birds over Rice Paddies

February 17: Remember You are Dust
I blogged about these fancy-dress ladies and their Japanese-inspired fashions here: Goth Loli Girls in Sacramento.
February 20: Goth Loli Girls
On my trip to Washington D.C. I took this photo of the Capitol Building using my cousin's car as a tripod to a fun effect.
March 5: US Capitol Building

March 7: Mother and Daughter
We had three baby squirrels at our old house.  They made great subjects.
April 13: The Triplets
And if you ever want to go take happy photos, drop in at a doggy day care!
April 20: Lucy's Friends
One of the challenges of being the photographer is that I rarely appear in photos.  But here I am...
bonus points if you can explain the photo's title!!!
April 28: Dude, stop talking crazy and make us some tea!
And then I left behind the boxes and mess for London and Ireland...
May 10: The Elgin Marbles

May 17: How the Irish Saved Civilization
Back home again.  I've enjoyed the challenge posed by shooting sunsets.
May 28: Sunset at Sutro
And this is Elle, daughter of one of my friends.  She is very ill, but I was so delighted to celebrate her 6 month birthday with a portrait!
June 6: Birthday Girl!
Exploring my new city, San Francisco, is really fun, too.  This bike belongs to someone on my block.
June 19: Bike with Ball Fringe
I have never lived near the ocean before.  You can bet I'll be taking beachy photos this summer!
July 1: Joy
So, here's to six more months of chasing the light.
