12 Travel Books for Christmas
Today's book recommendation is from...
Recommended by: TanyaBrothen who says, "I read Eat, Pray, Love while living in Paris. The narrator travels solo to three different countries, and as a solo female myself, I could really relate to her thoughts, feelings, the situations she found herself in, her hardships as well as her joys. This would be a great book for anyone on the road and looking for some relatability, or a woman who is thinking of taking the plunge and needs inspiration. The author's writing style flows nicely and she is very funny. It's also the kind of book where you see a progression in her life. It's not just about being on the road and seeing the sites. It's about personal growth, and that's what makes it so powerful."
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Summary: "This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve amoung both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, Gilbert explored the art of pleasure in Italy and the art of devotion in India, and then a balance between the two on the Indonesian island of Bali." -- excerpted from BookPassage.com
