The Sistine Chapel is coming to Denver’s The Hangar at Stanley Marketplace! Join Angela Nickerson for an evening walk and talk. Michelangelo Buonarroti didn’t consider himself a painter, and he tried desperately to get out of painting the Sistine Chapel ceiling, but it is hard to refuse the command of the pope — especially Pope Julius II. Join Angela K. Nickerson, author of A Journey into Michelangelo’s Rome, as she weaves the story of this battle between a powerful pope and a masterful artist — a battle which resulted in one of the most iconic and celebrated achievements in Italian art.
Tickets are available for purchase at the Stanley box office. The link is below. I hope to see you there!
About the Exhibit
We are bringing the Sistine Chapel to Stanley Marketplace! Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition recreates the awe and wonder of one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements, and gives viewers the chance to experience and enjoy Michelangelo's work up close and personal. With special expertise and care, the 33 ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel have been reproduced in museum quality at near-original size, allowing visitors to fully engage and study the details of the artwork. The Last Judgment, Michelangelo’s towering altar wall fresco painted 25 years after the ceiling, is also included in the exhibition.
